Product Development & Technical Integration

Nicolas Asencio

From sketches and clay models to SolidWorks and 3D prints — I work through the full product development process. Looking for an internship where I can keep learning and contribute.

Hands-on from idea to prototype

I'm a product development student at EK — Erhvervsakademi København with a background in Product Design & Production Technology. I enjoy the full journey: understanding a problem, sketching concepts, iterating through models, and validating with CAD and prototypes.

I'm comfortable working across disciplines — from sustainability analysis and material selection to hands-on 3D printing and mechanical design. I work well both independently and in groups, and I take my concepts all the way to functional proof of product.

Tsukumogami Lamp

02

Tsukumogami Lamp

A concept-to-prototype project inspired by Tsukumogami (Japanese spirit objects). Multiple concepts were generated through sketching and iteration, then developed in CAD. Final selection was a gong-inspired lamp — chosen for its spiritual aesthetic, minimal support requirements, and strong fit with the target group (young adults). Produced in FFF 3D print.

Monkey Tea Infuser

03

Monkey Tea Infuser

A character-driven tea infuser based on a Japanese macaque design. Developed in SolidWorks with careful attention to silicone manufacturability, wall thickness, functional hole patterns, and volume capacity validated against commercial tea bag standards. Packaging concept generated using Vizcom AI.

Sustainable Bike Speaker

04

Sustainable Bike Speaker

A redesign of a Bluetooth bike-mounted speaker with focus on reducing environmental impact. Used SolidWorks Sustainability and Granta EduPack Eco Audit to evaluate and substitute materials. The final design achieved a 22% reduction in CO₂ emissions compared to the original, and incorporated solar charging to reduce battery dependency.

Nesting Table Lock Mechanism

05

Nesting Table Lock Mechanism

Developed a safe and user-friendly locking mechanism for a foldable nesting table, designed for both small-batch production (150–250 units) and mass production. The work package focused on designing the hinge/latch mechanism, eliminating pinch and clip zones, and producing technical drawings to tolerance.
